EXCURSIONS

It’s hard to get a real feel for a country when you’re stuck behind the toughened glass of a
minibus windscreen, but not everyone has the time or inclination to set off on some far-flung adventure, miles away from the nearest air-conditioning unit. Mango Cambodia offers you the chance to do just that, without compromising your comfort or safety.

Mango Cambodia Excursions

PointGood Day Cambodia!
Embark on a colourful journey of discovery from your base by luxury vehicle and travel to a rural village, learning a few language basics on the way together with key historical and cultural facts about the area and its people.

  • Ride in an ox cart through the village to the local rice fields and mango plantations where farm workers will demonstrate their skills. Have a go yourself, if you wish.
  • Enjoy a delicious, safely prepared Khmer lunch with a charming Cambodian family in their traditional wooden, stilted home.
  • Meet children at the local school and present them with a gift of learning materials.
  • Return to your base in Phnom Penn with great photos and unforgetable memories of a special day out.

We pick you up around 8am and you will be back at your base by 5pm. We’ll also take photos during the day, and email them to you after the event.

The price is $55 USD per person including all transport, delicious food and refreshments, plus the gift of learning materials for the school and attentive service from our local, English speaking Excursion Managers.

PointThe Phnom Penh Detour
Take a fascinating ride around the real Phnom Penh, from the slums and brothels of the underbelly and the Bubble Tea shops of the middle classes to the grand private villas with armed guards and (optional) the infamous Steung Meancheay rubbish dump where hundreds of Cambodians scavenge to make a daily living. You will see how the other half really lives in this city of contrasts. There’ll be incredible photo opportunities including sunset across the lake, weather permitting, and the colourful monks taking their evening constitutional in the park. The day ends with a farewell drink at a traditional Khmer beer garden.

We start this guided excursion at 3pm and finish at around 7pm in order to see the contrasts of the city at their most interesting. Prices - $25 USD per person for the tuk-tuk version (not suitable for Steung Meancheay) and $35 USD for an air-conditioned vehicle.

PointThe Direct Action Detour
Perhaps you have seen enough of Cambodia to know that you would like to do something to help but you don't know how. Our Direct Action detours will point you in the right direction by visiting carefully selected organisations running schools for street kids, orphanages and various community projects.

The DAD Runs from either 9am to 12pm or 2pm to 5pm and includes a short break for refreshments. If you opt for the morning tour, the Phnom Penh Detour can be booked for later the same day.

The price of the Direct Action Detour is kept low for obvious reasons and is currently under review. Please call us for an update.

NB: All prices are based on a minimum of two people per excursion although we can of course provide a service for one person only at 100% surcharge.
GIVING SOMETHING BACK
GIVING SOMETHING BACK
Mango Cambodia actively supports sustainable tourism. All our “detours” benefit rural communities by employing rural people to supply goods and services, donating learning materials to the village schools and simply opening visitors’ eyes to “the real situation” of Cambodia today – particularly through the Direct Action Detour.
